It is that time of the year again where plenty of gifts are given, food are un-endingly served and eaten, invitations to parties never stop and shopping daily seems insufficient.  We all have our own traditions and feelings about this holiday season but whatever it is, it is said may times, year in and year out, remember to celebrate the main purpose, that is, the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Season's Greetings!!!

Teach the Children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning that a now-a-day Christmas has forgotten! Teach the Children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind. All the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man’s thoughts turning toward heaven. Teach the Children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of that promise. Teach the Children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness. The kids and I often call my wife before we go to sleep when she's on hospital duty. Monty and Sam would say their usual 'baby talk' and ask silly questions like 'what are you doing mommy?", etc. It's always fun to hear their naive statements and queries. Last night, Monty was telling my wife that how she wishes her mom would just stay home and leave the 'working for the money' with daddy. She said, " working is for the fathers". It was an innocent but a strong statement. It may seem that kids don't understand how adults do things but their childish views are significant too. Monty just wanted to spend more time with her mom and dad. Period. The holidays are fast approaching and it's a wonderful opportunity for us to spend more time with the kids.

God is good. He was, He is and will always be. My wife and I were talking a couple of days ago about how blessed we are. Our two daughters are growing up to be smart and beautiful persons. Our careers have reached a stable and comfortable level. Our finances...a blessing indeed. Our principle and theology is very simple. Out of God come all things. God loves all of its creation.Give Him what is due Him and all things will be "added unto thee". As the bible says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it” (Malachi 3:10 NIV). We follow the spiritual law of tithing given by God to ssist us in finding abundance, fulfillment, and gratitude in our everyday lives. Christmas is a good time for us to look beyond ourselves… what we really want for those closest to us and those who most need help. Christmas is more than simply the celebration of the birth of a baby. The story of Jesus Christ takes us beyond the glitter and the tinsel and the lights to something much deeper. As we witness countless re-enactments of the nativity this season, try to look beyond the scene…realize that the Saviour who was born is God’s gift of hope; the hope of peace and goodwill, of beauty and love. Look beyond what you see, however bleak it might seem, and discover signs of goodness and beauty, of hope, of joy despite whatever is happening in our world today. Christmas is a time for looking beyond what our eyes can see; to look at the present crisis and see the stories of kindness and compassion that carry with them the hope of life beyond the darkness; to look at the violence and see the efforts made to change these patterns and see in them signals of ...

We just had our department’s Christmas party last Friday and the company’s, last Saturday. It was fun. I had the chance to embarrass myself again by dancing in front of people, but it was all in the spirit and, of course, the reward. My group won first place! The not-so-happy part of the merrymaking was the announcement that the company can only afford half-month worth of salary as Christmas bonus this year. Well, not as expected, but, at least, there is something. Why the optimism? A lot of companies are cancelling Christmas parties this year because of the ongoing economic slowdown. So, I’m thankful that we still had a Christmas party. Moreover, at least we still have a job. Plenty of people don't this Christmas. 

This is a form of haemophilia caused by deficiency of Christmas’ factor. It is a disturbance of coagulation that may easily be confused with classical heamophilia, with which it is clinically almost identical. Factor IX was discovered in 1952 in a young patient with hemophilia B named Stephen Christmas (1947-1993). His deficiency was described by Dr. Rosemary Biggs and Professor R.G. MacFarlane in Oxford, UK. The factor is hence called Christmas Factor or Christmas Eve Factor. Christmas lived in Canada, and campaigned for blood transfusion safety until succumbing to transfusion-related AIDS at age 46. An alternative name for the factor is plasma thromboplastin component . Incidence: 1/40,000 (15-20% of haemophilias). The condition is transmitted as a sex-linked recessive trait through female carriers. Prevalent in males.

This is the significant inner message of Christmas. Realize fully that so long as the thirst for money and the arrogance of power infects our nature as man, so long the Christ-spirit of peace, blessedness and true happiness cannot enter into our lives. As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember that “unless we be born again, we cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven,” and that unless the simplicity and the purity of heart of the little children come to indwell in our hearts and unregenerate our nature, the advent of the Divine Grace as peace, prosperity, well-being and concord will never come our way. As individuals, even so as citizens of the world, the fundamentals of true faith, true charity, genuine humility and a spiritual rebirth alone can usher in true bliss and brotherhood upon this world of ours. It’s Christmas time! Even if our situation here in the Philippines is full of uncertainties, there’s no denying that the holiday atmosphere is at hand. I was told that Divisoria is overflowing with people buying gifts, food etc. As Filipinos, we are really passionate in celebrating this season. Healthwise, we should not make the holidays a time for us to abuse our bodies. I know that the temptations are often too difficult to resist but let us not forget that another year is about to come and we should be spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically fit to face it.
