A Father's Poem on Father's day

I am a person striving to be loving and kind, Often I know what my daughters have on their minds. I know how to listen to them, I guide, and I support them. I am their best friend... I am proud of their triumphs, and when things go wrong, I remain patient and helpful and strong... In all that they do, My love will always be a part. I know that whatever happens there's always a place for me deep in their heart. And each year that passes, I'm even more glad, More grateful and proud for them to call me... dad! Thank you, Monty and Sam!!! Happy Father's Day to Me!

Remembering My Father

My father died 28 years ago today. This year would have been his 70th birthday. I don't have much recollection of him except for those times when I went with him in some of his visits to friends outside town. There were also those moments where he would play his guitar as we sang along with my siblings. Besides these, all of my memories about him are probably products of my imagination and wishful thinking. I feel that there are so many things we never got to do. So many conversations we never got through. It was difficult growing up so how I'd wish he was there to guide me through. They say that when one dies, his/her soul flies away. Many times I felt as though I can’t do it without him. I tried so hard to see things through and become the person he wanted me to be. Really, ...

The Perks of Fatherhood

I don't have much memories of how my father and I bonded when I was young. Due to illness, he passed away when I was just 7 years old. I practically grew up without a 'father image' that could have guided me through my 35 years of existence. Fortunately, I have a Father in heaven who took very good care of me. But, many times I wondered what my life would have been if my biological father was still alive. What would have he felt when I finished my studies with honors? How proud would have he been for all my achievements thus far? Would have he pompously said over and over again that I looked like him? If what I feel now as a father to two beautiful daughters is a generic feeling to all fathers, then I could safely assume that my dad would have felt the same way. Excited as I was when my first daughter, Monty, said her first word and took her first step. Proud as I am because my daughter, at the age of 2, can already name the rainbow colors, and identify the alphabet...
