I Will Sell My Vote!

Three days before the election, I made up my mind and decided to sell my vote! Yes, I will sell my vote. I will sell it to candidates who will pay me with a thousand pesos worth of sincerity, five hundred pesos worth of service and a hundred pesos worth of integrity! So, for a cheap sum of Php 1,600.00, my vote is up for grab!

Here are the list of 'senatoriable traders' who have a good chance of getting a deal for my vote.

1. Bautista, Martin
- a 'small scale' trader I should say, compared to the others, and it might not be a 'popular' investment but his eloquence and impressive ideas for good governance and significant reforms puts him my leading 'dark horse'.

2. Zubiri, Miguel
- his track record in Congress is impressive and its unfortunate that not many know this. It's always safe to go for someone who made a lot of 'good deals' in the past.

3. Escudero, Francis
- I admire this guy for being 'professional' in all his undertakings, in so far as I know and see. He doesn't go down to the personal level when he attacks and has the guts to be a gentleman even in the face of his opponents.

4. Defensor, Michael
- Loyalty makes an organization strong and this guy has proven many times his unwavering support to the government he is affiliated with, and succeeded in keeping it alive.

5. Pangilinan, Francis
- A man who sticks with his principle seldom will go wrong. He sticks to what he believes in, and has the guts to stand by it.

6. Arroyo, Joker
- An old 'trader' who knows the business and remained, seemingly, unscathed by it.

7. Recto, Ralph
- In a business, you need to make some painful sacrifices to make it. This guy, despite the unpopularity of his measure, fought for it, and fortunately, I should say, triumphant in keeping the 'economic business' thriving at this time.

8. Villar, Manuel
- A person who came from 'down there' will forever be rooted to it, even though he'll soar to new heights. No ounce of arrogance is apparent and he seems sincere in what he offers.

9. Pichay, Prospero
- Another 'old dog' in politics but his acccomplishments as a congressman is also impressive. Accepting his offer is a 'risk' that I have to take but sometimes it is better to gamble on someone who has proven 'some worth' in the past.

10. Roco, Sonia
-This mother who's banking on the popular name of her late husband may not seem to be a good choice but her teaching experience and her being a novice in the business might bring some 'new light' to the group.

11. Magsaysay, Vic
- The man who made Subic what it is now. A new personality in national politics, he promises to bring his 'local' expertise to the 'higher' level. I am also 'rolling the dice' on this one.

12. Legarda, Loren
- An environmentalist whose real persona is unpredictable and often different from what she projects. Her 'user-friendly' attitude turns me off but I am willing to give her 'another' deal to prove her cause.

Abdominal Epilepsy?

The other day, I encountered an uncommon medical diagnosis, abdominal epilepsy. Maybe I was absent when this was taught in med school or maybe it was mentioned but it just didn't register in my memory bank. Anyway, for those colleagues who haven't heard of this as well, here's what I found out about it, so that next time you are faced with a weird abdominal pain, you will think of abdominal epilepsy as a differential. There are many medical causes of abdominal pain; abdominal epilepsy is one of the rare causes. From a medical perspective, the term epilepsy refers not to a single disease, but to a group of symptoms with numerous causes. The common factor in all forms of epilepsy is an excessive electrical excitability of the brain. The increased excitation is called a seizure and may manifest as a partial or total loss of consciousness and muscle spasms or other involuntary movements. Many conditions can produce epilepsy. For example, a genetic predisposition is

"Ganacity"

If there's one word that I will never forget from my AGSB experience, it's "ganacity"! A word frequently mentioned by our FinMan professor. What does it mean? It's a combination of the tagalog word "gana" (appetite, zest) and the english suffix "city" which converts an adjective word into a noun. 'Ganacity' therefore refers to one's state of desire or interest in something. I am sharing this because I feel that my 'ganacity' for what I am doing now is spiralling down, and it is so difficult to reverse it back up or just to keep it at a maintained level. It is becoming a struggle on a day to day basis. I am hoping that night and day will alternate fast so that this battle will end soon.

What to Think About this Holy Week

As we prepare for the coming week, let us be reminded again of this powerful message. In the message "Believe and Be Restored" we considered our need to believe that what God said is true. He said the death and resurrection of Jesus was the final sacrifice for our sin, and that those who believe would receive the gift of eternal life. Clearly, our Salvation is a gift from God; "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith" (Ephesians 2:8). We did nothing to earn our Salvation and there is nothing we must now do to keep it, we simply must believe; "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). Though our sins are forgiven and Jesus is 100% sufficient for Salvation - though we walk in grace and are absolutely free of condemnation - sin in our life still causes temporary separation and tension in our relationship with God. Therefore, over and over in scripture, we are called to a life of holiness: "As obedient chi
