Proper ear health

How to care for your ears Did you know there is a right and wrong way to clean the ear? If the ear doesn't get cleaned, or if it gets cleaned poorly or the wrong way, it can seriously damage your hearing! And once hearing is lost, it often can't be fixed . Here are some tips and instructions for caring for the ear. General Care Have your ENT doctor check your ears and hearing at least annually. Recognize the signs of hearing loss See your ENT doctor imediately if you injure your ears, if your ears hurt, or if you notice abnormal changes in your ears or hearing Cleaning of the Ear Be careful when cleaning your ears. Wipe your outer ear with a washcloth or tissue during or after showering. Don't put any small objects in your ears. Cotton swabs and other small objects can damage the sensitive parts of your ear. When using "cotton buds", clean the outer 1/3 of the canal only, as it is the only part of the canal producing earwax. Normally, earwax is removed

Katatawanan

Here's a post I received from my yahoo!groups last year. I find it really funny. I hope you do too. Read on. PINOY LESSONS IN LINGUISTICS 1. Kinalaunan, naging belyas, tapos naging English, hospitality girls tapos ngayon G

A Lateral Saccular Cyst of the Larynx Presenting as Snoring in a 3-year old: A Case Report

*Winner, Philippine Medical Association National Case Report Contest 2004, PMA Annual Convention, Manila Hotel, Philippines Introduction Snoring in the adult has always been thought of as a benign condition, more of a nuisance than a medical problem. But if it is heard from a child, it is thought of as a significant indicator of an underlying pathology that needs to be looked into. Literature commonly associates it with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (Ejercito, 1995; Krespi and Kacker, 2003). Specifically, it has been attributed to anatomic abnormalities such as a large lingual tonsil (Dundar, et al, 1996), laryngomalacia (Chetty, et al, 1994), and epiglottic prolapse (Woo, 1992). Other reported conditions include obesity, nasal obstruction (Chen and Kushida, 2003), unfavorable tongue to mandible relationship, pharyngeal hypotonia and pharyngeal space occupying tumors1. There has been no report attributing it to a laryngeal mass like the case presented. This is a case report of a 3-year

Sam

Her name is hebrew which means "Listener of God" and a "Flock of God, belonging to God". Her complete name would then mean "one who belongs to God, and listens to HIM" as well. She is our second daughter, simply called Sam!

Monty

My eldest daughter. We call her Monty. It's the name of Brendan Fraser's character in "With Honors" which is one of my favorite movies. It is supposed to be a short for "Montgomery" which is a name we should have given our first child if it was a boy. It turned out to be a girl so we searched for a name that would still have "Monty" as nickname. We came up with French name which means "noble" and a word of unknown origin meaning "Peace".

THE AETNA EXPERIENCE

It has been 2 months since I last set foot on the floor Despite the comfort that I regained back and so much more My Aetna experience is something I can’t forget forevermore… March 6 was the day it all began Driven by adventure, a dream not part of my life plan I trodded on a path my colleagues won’t probably understand, But, what started as odd turned out to be fun. American literature was the first topic at hand Pronunciation and accent were a must to understand, Together with Pat and Polly, Andy was the man It was like going back to elementary 1 – 0 – 1. Then came medical terminologies and American health insurance Meeting Amar, Prashant, Venu and the other brilliant Indians was a humbling chance, Familiarizing with the system called Rumba which is different from the dance Dealing with terms like copay, deductible, co-insurance and all the other ones. Of course the people I worked with were all so charming The tres marias Vernon, Audi, and JP were extremely en

Your teeth can kill you!

In recent years there has been a reawakening of the dangers of oral infections and their potential disastrous effects on systemic health. Dead and infected teeth are often treated 'conservatively' in modern dentistry by performing a treatment called Root Canal Therapy. As dentists, we are indoctrinated that it is better to save a tooth at any cost - although the real costs to individual health and the society at large are usually totally overlooked by the teaching institutions. This may at first seem surprising considering that dentistry is touted as a health providing profession. On the other hand, if the dental profession were to accept the reality of Focal Infection (and the potential sources of this oral infection), we would have to reassess some of the fundamental treatment concepts being taught and practiced in dentistry. As filipinos, we often put our dental health low in our priorities. The saying " okay lang bungi or sira ang ngipin, basta kumakain araw-araw

The Quest

Soaring up like an eagle Spreading wings to fly Trudging nowhere, probing for any An expedition the heart goes through Going in directions the mind leads Opening doors hoping to get in Lighting up candles that brightens the dark Wishing to see the glory within Chasing the wind Looking for the end of the rainbow Counting the stars Ah, endless, unbound! That is life An inexhaustible quest It is for the tranquility of mind The fundamental nature of living. Copyright ©2006 .Poetry.com
